DELIVERY of pnlverized coal is a task demanding specialized equipment if the work is to be performed efficiently, and for this reason special interest attaches to an advanced type of vehicle which has recently been put into service by the Standard Pulverized Fuel Co., Ltd.

Based on n Leyland Steer six-wheeled chassis, this unit, which carries three large containers, has been 'designed throughout to convey Pulverite fuel from the Grimethiarpe works of the company to steel and other works for firing metallurgical furnaces.

isulverized fuel is a most economical form for firing coal and the manufacturer claims an average saving of 40-50 per cent. ' The containers of the vehicle are loaded from storage bunkers at the works, the fuel passing by gravity through valves and chutes into the containers, which, after loading, are sealed. Discharging of the fuel is effected by means of a compressor, which is mounted on the vehicle and driven by the engine.

By this means compressed air up to a pressure of 15 lb. per sq. in. is forced into the containers, the valves are then opened and the air carries the pulverized fuel through a pipe-line into the customer's storage bunkers, The vehicle in question has been evolved from similar machines already in use by the company. Other concerns in the coal trade have £1150 used this method.
