Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE BRITISH motor industry has a real future. This was the message of Industry Secretary Patrick Jenkin, speaking at a one-day seminar sponsored by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the Confederation of British Industry.

The motor industry can get back on its feet but only if the individual companies and their management and workforce work together, he said.

"All those in the vehicle industry must realise that, ultimately, they stand or fall by their own efforts," he said.

"They have shown what they can do in the last year or two. And the Government has shown that it is prepared to back success," he added.

Hinting at possible privatisation of BL, he said it is the duty of the Government to manage its own affairs and provide the most favourable climate for the advance of the industry.
