NEW AUTHORISATIONS for MoT testing have not been granted so that the Department of Transport can give full consideration to the large number of outstanding applications. It also allows satisfactory monitoring standards to be kept.

The halt will last until next May when the position will be reviewed.

There are already over 16,000 MoT testing stations for light vans and cars throughout Britain and the DTp believes this to be ample to provide a convenient service to the motorist in most areas.
