Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A potential defect has been discovered in the original steering sector shaft of some of the 5-6 ton models produced by BMC between May 1961 and March 1968. Models affected are 5-ton VA, FF, FG, FH, WE and WF; 6-ton WE and WF with chassis numbers between 143432 and 314488. The defect has occurred. when the vehicle has been manoeuvring at an extreme steering lock.

A modified sector shaft is available from Leyland Redline distributors. The distributors have also been instructed to modify any vehicles returned to them.
