that Volvo is leading the shift from road to rail: two of its latest innovations are designed to be equally at home on asphalt and steel. The hybrids are based on Volvo FLEs with roadrail kit from SRS Rail Systems and other specialist work by Swedish-based AB Sjo'ander.

As well as road-rail bogies they are equipped with lifting equipment for overhead inspection and repairs. Total cost of the order is £12m.
All of these vehicles, together with another four maintenance units delivered throughout the British Isles, were supplied by the Hartshorne Motor Group.
