ROADUNE UK completes slimming-down programme th week with the closure of si branches, and the downgradin of another three to outstation Nearly 400 jobs go with th branches at Liverpool (117 jobs Middlesbrough (50 jobs), Pre ton (94 jobs), Droitwich (99 jobs Eastbourne (13 jobs), and Rea ing (21 jobs), and there will b cuts in the labour forces Bridgwater, York, and High W combe branches which now a outstations.
Since the programme begai earlier this year, Roadline ha shed 1,4 0 0 jobs and 21 branches. It now has three re gions instead of five in England and Wales, and has 33 branche and hub centres, and ten ou. stations where the compan wants to maintain a presence.
The trimming scheme did no affect its two specialist distribu tion centres in Greater Londor The Heathrow centre handles ai freight, and Bermondsey is th. hub centre for London whicl also handles valuable traffic.
