FULL EEC type-approval to Directive 71/320 on braking systems, and 70/221 on underrun bars for semitrailers has been obtained by Trailor SA (UK) Ltd, for its close-coupled and widespread tandem-axle flat-bed trailers.
Trailers having approved brake systems incorporate certain variations to meet individual member country requirements.
Directive 71/320 covers the specification of the trailer brake system and includes a series of static and dynamic tests to check actuation times and on-road performance under specified conditions. Directive 70/221 includes manufacturing standards covering the positioning, shape and strength of underrun bars.
