The de Dion Light Van.

A 5 11.1). single-cylinder de Dion van was recently put through an interesting trial run, from London to Edinburgh and back to London, in the hands of a member of the staff of de Dion-Bouton (1907), Ltd., of it), Great Marlborough Street, London, W. The trial was under R.A.C. official observation throughout. Copies of the Club certificate, which discloses a highly-creditable performancethroughout, in respect of running, easy control, and fee! consumption, can be had on application to the company named. The total weight of the loaded vehicle was approximately one ton seven cwt., and the out-and-home journey totalled 798+ miles, the whole of which were covered between the morning of Monday and the following Saturday evening. During part of the trip, the weather conditions were of an extremely-wintry character, and un doubtedly exceptional in their severity. The certified running performance shows 24.5 miles per gallon of petrol, and 270.8 miles per gallon of engine oil. This small van might very well appeal to parties who have not yet found anything light enough upon motor-vehicle lines for their own requirements, arid who are not

satisfied to purchase anything which is constructed upon cycle lines.

A 3i-ton Berna.

The illustration, on page 66, of a 3i-ton Berna vehicle, which has a 28-30 h.p. engine, shows a recent delivery to James Clark and Son, Ltd., glass merchants, of Blackfriars, S.E. Continental tires are fitted to all wheels, and the body was specially made, to the owners' instructions, by Horn, Ltd.

Holders of "The Commercial Motor" Challenge Cup.

Sun Flour Mills, Ltd., of Bromley-by-Bow, now holds the handsome silver challenge cup presented by the proprietors of this journal for annual award at the C.M.U. A. parade, This company has a splendid fleet of Fodens, one of which is of the three-ton, rubbertired type (illustrated on page 47). This vehicle, like others of the same pattern, is easily capable of travelling 80 miles a day.
