Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Kits for low-cost repairs to stripped threads have been introduced by Eurocap. The Fixa-Thread comprises diamondsection, spring-like thread inserts, a tap and an insertion tool.

Badly damaged threads may need drilling out before the inserts are installed. The tap, which itself has a screw thread that should match that of the bolt to be fastened, is used to make a key in the workpiece ready for the insertion of the new thread coil.

The Australian manufacture of Fix-a-Thred claims that the repaired threads are stronger than the original. Kits coverin; most common sizes of thread are available ex-stock from Eurocap.
