Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Renault UK will be bringing a Trafic 4x4 van into the UK as part of its new light commercial programme for 1987.

Both petrol and diesel versions of the four-wheel-drive panel van, launched at last year's Turin Truck Show, are currently undergoing UK Type Approval.

They could become available, along with a revised range of Trafic and Master front-wheel-drive vans, in time for the NEC Motor Show in October.

The current front-wheeldrive Trafic line-up will shortly be changing. The 50kW (67hp) 1,647cc petrol engine fitted in the T1000 Trafic will be replaced by a 52kW (70hp) version of the 1,721cc engine fitted in the Renault 11 car.

The existing T1200 van will also be replaced by a heavier gross-weight T1300 model, with a 1.3-tonne payload and the same 61kW (82hp) 1,995cc petrol engine used in Master vans.

Minor changes have also been made to the Master engines to improve bottom-end torque, as well as its driver controls. To ensure a greater degree of parts commonality, all Extra, Trafic and Master models will have the same grey/rainbow-stripe trim finish, while Trafic vans and chassis cabs will also gain a revised grille and bonnet design using a higher degree of plastic to reduce stone damage.

The new Trafic and Master vans will be launched in time for the Motor Show. Following record sales of 11,576 vehicles in 1985, Renault UK is hoping to increase its registrations to between 16,000 to 17,000 light conunericals in 1986, helped by the recently-launched Extra carderived van range. According to Ray Thompson, Renault UK's light CV general manager, the final figure will depend on how many Extras can be supplied from France.
