Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

STAN ROBINSON IS increasing the testing capacity at its VOSA authorised testing facility (ATF) following the news that the agency will cease testing at its Stoke (Swynnerton) station by April. VOSA will also cease operations at its Ipswich test station in the same time frame.

Centre manager at the Stan Robinson ATF in Seighford, Stafford, Paul Glover, tells CM: “We’ve gradually been increasing the amount of testing we offer since we opened the centre last year. We have two test lanes, but only operate both three days a week at the moment. From August, we will have two VOSA testers on site five days a week.” Glover says he will “prioritise third-party tests over our own vehicles”.

Barry Proctor, MD of Barry Proctor Services, based in Stoke-on-Trent, says he is happy that Stan Robinson has opened an ATF. “Stan’s ATF is a lot easier to access than the Swynnerton station, which is down a country lane. Stan is also more flexible when booking test slots. We’re lucky that we have a good alternative as I hear that some operators in mid-Wales are making huge journeys to their nearest testing facility since their local VOSA station closed.” Along with the two closures, VOSA also announced the opening of its 100th ATF, in Lichfield, Staffordshire, run by Bullwell Trailer Solutions. VOSA chief executive Alastair Peoples says this shows that VOSA’s strategy of taking testing closer to the customer is working and that the industry “has confidence in ATFs”.
