Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

When it comes to an audio system, Fusion Electronics, for example, can introduce you to the world of amplifiers, subwoofers and speakers, and advise you on the best things to fit.

If you are having a fancy audio system installed or spotlights fitted, make sure you employ a competent electrician. Fail to do so, and the consequence could be disastrous, warns Gary Coles.

“I’m convinced that a lot of the trucks you see burnt out at the roadside have come to grief as a consequence of electrical accessories being poorly installed,” he observes “The wiring has been so bad on some of the custom trucks we’ve seen, that there is often no choice but to rip it all out and start again.” That is something that a dealer should be able to tackle – or at least check the work once it has been completed to ensure that it does not present a hazard.

Once you have got your truck looking the way you want it, you need to look after it. That may involve washing the paintwork by hand – operators who have spent a lot on a pricey paint finish are unlikely to want to take it anywhere near a brush wash or a pressure washer – as well as putting a shine on some of the extras that may have been fitted.

Alloy wheels are going to require periodic polishing in order to look their best, unless they come with a special protective finish that means they only need washing with soapy water and hosing off every so often to keep them sparkling. Leather trim needs to be given hide food once every six months to keep it supple, while applying special leather cleaner should remove any dirt.

One thing that it will not fetch out, however, warns specialist trimmer LA and RW Piper of Sparkford in Somerset, is ink from ballpoint pens. Once they mark your leather seat, you are stuck with the results – so keep them well away.
