APeterborough-based haulier who has been hit by truck thieves for the second time this year is offering a £3,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of his Volvo FL7 and the conviction of the culprits.

Derek Cooper's vehicle, which was coupled to a 1986 Seadyke bulk tipping trailer, ID number A041111, was taken between 18:00 and 20:00hrs on Monday 4 July, just before night security staff arrived at Hugh Baird and Sons in Witham, Essex. It was loaded with malt For export.

The Volvo, registration number C82 CEX, chassis number YV2F7A287GC800617, engine number 3670, was based at the company's Hedingham depot in Essex where a Scania artic was stolen in March this year.

Were you at the Little Hulton lorry park, Worsley, Manchester on Tuesday 5 July at around 21:00hrs? IF so you might be able to help Salford Police catch the thieves who stole a Leyland Roadrunner 08.15, fitted with factory sleeper cab and Boalloy curtainsided body.

The vehicle, registration number G837 APC, chassis number XLRK4H44VOL 27404, belongs to Production & Design Services, Accrington, Lancashire.

It has a transfer of an eagle on the front of the body and is fitted with a Cummins 150 turbo engine with about 42,000km on the clock.

Some time between the night of Thursday 7 July and the early hours of the following morning two vehicles were stolen from Burtons Biscuits' depot at the Bilton

Way Industrial Estate, Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

Both are 16-tonne rigids and are red and white with the Burtons logo on their front, side and rear.

They are a Seddon Atkinson, registration number F120 RVN, chassis number 85099, engine number YD50235410416-25, and a Ford Cargo, F523 RAW, chassis number SBCCXXCCDCJDO4245, engine number A826FHDA25/F/88/A.

British Telecom has joined the hunt for NC Cammack & Son's stolen Scania 6x2 113 360 tractor unit using its Cellnet mobile phone network. The vehicle was taken some time between 18:00 and 20:00hrs on Tuesday 12 July from the Dukes Park industrial estate, Chelmsford, Essex.

Owner Jim Cammack says: "I dialled the number in the cab the night it was stolen and to my surprise it rang, although of course no one answered.

"I then rang British Telecom who said they could not tell me the vehicle's exact position, but they could give me an idea of its location. They came back and said it was in the Leytonstone area of London at approximately 21:40hrs," he says.

After a mediocre response from Chelmsford police, Cammack rang Leytonstone station direct where a woman police officer said they would keep a look out For the vehicle.

"When I tried the 'phone this morning (13July) it had been disconnected and I've heard nothing from either Leytonstone or Chelmsford police since," he says.

The Scania, registration number H4 GEE, chassis number 1157877, engine number 3074137, has a red chassis, green cab with yellow band and yellow wheels. The company's name is signwritten on it.

Cammack says that he would be prepared to offer a reward for any information leading to the recovery of this vehicle.

wo thieves have made off with trailers and containers carrying more than E100,000 of goods from the Purfleet Thames Terminal in Essex. Police believe the pair spent more than an hour in the terminal picking their loads before choosing three containers, two carrying raw aluminium and the other understood to be containing welding gear.

According to South Ockendon CID, the two thieves then produced fake release documents and towed the trailers and containers away between 21:40 and 23:00hrs on Saturday 2 July.

The stolen containers were owned by foreign companies and had recently arrived from the Continent. Police have no Further details.
