Philip A. Vine will be retiring from the post of general manager of Kingston-on-Hull City Transport on July 30, having completed nearly 17 years of service with the City Council.

Mr Vine started his transport career with Ribble Motor Services and subsequently held various posts with Coventry City Transport and Cardiff City Transport. He was appointed deputy general manager of Kingstonupon-Hull City Transport in November 1967 and immediately become involved in the changeover to 100 per cent one person operation which was achieved in 1972, In 1979 Mr Vine was appointed general manager of the undertaking.

Mr Vine is to be succeeded by Keith J. Bastow who will take up his post from July 31. Having held various posts with Eastbourne Borough Transport Department, Mr Bastow was appointed to the post of chief administrative assistant at Kingston in July 1978 and was subsequently appointed to the post of deputy general manager on July 1,1982.
