HENRY SPURRIER SCHOLARSHIP

THE Institute of Transport has awarded a Henry Spurrier Memorial Scholarship to Mr. A. Stone. M.Inst.T., deputy chief traffic officer of Leeds City Transport. and hon. secretary of the Yorkshire Section of the Institute, to enable him to study road passenger transport in the U.S.A. Mr. Stone proposes to fly to America on September 12 and to carry out a series of investigations into road passenger transport and associated traffic problems in Boston, New York. Philadelphia, Washington. Baltimore, Chicago. Cleveland and Buffalo. He hopes to be back in this country on October 30.

NEW DEPOT

DROWN BROTHERS, LTD., open

their new Chatham depot on July 31. The whole of the ground floor has been allocated to the motor departments and allows for the quick handling of a wide range of items.

At the rear of the premises is a specially constructed tyre sales and service station where comprehensive stocks of car, giant, tractor and earth mover tyres will be carried, and an extensive tyre fitting and repair shop will be at the disposal of customers. In addition to the normal daily delivery service, express tyre vans will be available to meet urgent needs.

The new branch covers the whole of Kern, including the Medway and coastal towns, except those areas at present serviced by the company's Croydon and Eastbourne branches.
