Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

One day last week officials representing the Commissioners of the Metropolitan and the City Police Forces carried out the annual census of traffic in the inner belt of London. The census was taken between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at approximately 100 of the busiest points in the heart of Loudon. The statistics will later be incorporated in the annual traffic report, after the Public-Carriage Office has analysed the returns.

More Buses for Nottingham.

The passenger-transport committee of Nottingham Corporation has decided to purchase a further 20 double-deck buses of a similar type to the A.E.C. Regent vehicles recently placed in service. The cost of the order is approximately 140,00Q. The petrol buses will be used in suburban areas, the committee holding

e the view that, for intensive city works, the trolley-bus is the more suitable vehicle. The corporation also has 25 now trolley-buses on order, so that its extensive fleet will shortly be augmented by 45 new machines.

Bus Results at Accrington.

A gross profit of £5,886 was shown in the year ended March 31st last on the working of the bus undertaking of Accrington Corporation. The total revenue amounted to 128,167, whilst expenditure was £22,281. After deducting sinking fund and interest charges, the net profit on the year's working was £1,584. This was placed to the credit of the appropriation account, which after the payment of the sum of £2,250 to Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., in connection with local services, now stands at 12,127.

A Morris-Commercial Breakdown Lorry.

Illustrated on this page is an interesting Morris-Commercial six-wheeled breakdown lorry, which was in attendance at the Shehdey Walsh hill-climb, held on July 11th, for the purpose of assisting any car in difficulty.

The vehicle is fitted up for dealing with almost any emergency. It carries, amongst other equipment, the following: General-duty salvage crane, towing ambulance with pole and distance bar, large and small jacks, breast-drill stand, worm-gear pulley blocks, davit, swivelling spotlight, inspection lamp and bench and tool cupboards containing a comprehensive set of garage tools. Over 400 tools are always kept on board.

McNamara's Reduction of Capital.

The directors of McNamara and Co., Ltd., the well-known contracting concern, which in December last proposed a reduction of capital by writing off 10s. per £1 share, announces that this proposal has proved unnecessarily drastic, and that only 8s. per share should be written off. The shareholders will be asked to give their approval to the new proposal at a meeting to be held on July 30th.

Results of Inst. of T. Examinations.

The results of the examinations of the Institute of Transport held in various centres in April and May last have recently been announced. So far as the graduateship examination is concerned, there were 28 successful candidates, whilst in the associate-membership class there were 63 successful entrants.
