• The avalanche of haulage company failures which blighted 1998 has continued into the New Year with the closure of Isle of Sheppybased DW Bennett Transport. Twenty drivers have been made redundant.
The fresh produce carrier from Sheerness has been in business since the sixties. It ceased trading at the beginning of January blaming reduced margins. A company However, DW Bennett's other businesses—DW Bennett Portside and DIN Bennett Workshop—continue to trade.
