• Lath launched a diesel version of the Niva 4x4 at the Brussels Show.
The engine chosen is Peugeot's XUD 9 1.9-litre indirect injection diesel, as fitted to the Peugeot and Citroen Sevel panel vans. It produces 41kW (55hp) at 4,600rpm; less than in the Sevel vans. Lath owns its Belgian importer, Scaldia Volga SA, and the conversion has probably been carried out for the Belgian market.
A spokesman for Lath in the UK says: "We have been trying to get a diesel for years."
