Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Trevor Longcroft

The coldest winter weather may not have arrived so far and many people yet may find the need for additional heating this year to bolster either their present system or to act as a replacement for heating-units in need of repair.

Andrews Industrial Equipment Ltd, Dudley Road, Wolverhampton, has for some time been offering from its hire centres a "Heat for Hire" service covering most types of portable heater required for hire either in Britain or Northern Ireland within 24 hours.

Heat outputs available range from 2kW to 1,000,000 Btu. Specimen quotations for a hire period of one week are £8.50 for a 60,000 Btu per hour unit and 18 per week for a 205,000 Btu per hour unit. I understand that for longer periods of hire there is an appreciable reduction in the hire charge — the longer the period the greater the reduction. Offered with the hire service is use of a free consultancy service.
