BRADFORD hauliers, hit again at Hull docks by the dockers' unofficial strike on Tuesday, have decided to charge shipowners for vehicle delays.

The 55-member Bradford and District Federation of Road Hauliers decided on Monday to take this action. Shipping companies will he allowed four hours to clear a vehicle from the docks; any additional time spent by vehicles awaiting unloading will be charged.

Mr. Jack Jones, chairman of the Federation, told COMMF RC AL MOTOR: "We decided. it was unfair to our customers to charge them for vehicle delays in the port. We will now send invoices to the shipping lines concerned, with copies to our customers".

Bradford hauliers agreed at the meeting to await the outcome of moves planned by the Bradford and Hull Chambers of Commerce to ease congestion at the port (COMMERCIAL MOTOR, January 7) before taking any further action.
