Contract manager TM Logistics Martley, Worcestershire For a company that employs about 400 people and runs 150 vehicles, implementing the Driver CPC is both logistically complex and costly.
Adam Purshall says TM Logistics has started looking at how it can adapt. The plan is to see whether its existing drivertraining programmes can be tailored to meet the needs of the CPC rather than scrap everything and start again.
The training will have to be accredited, of course, and we'll then have to decide whether we do it internally or externally," says Purshall. That will depend on the outcome of a cost-benefit analysis."
Like other panel members, Purshall is worried how older drivers, with decades of experience under their belts, will react to compulsory training.
"It's an ageing workforce, so this is a concern. Some people see this training as a negative, not a positive."
