• All network members are shareholders in the company. There are approximately 420,000 shares in issue with no single shareholder holding more than 20,000 shares. Any company leaving the consortium must sell Its shares back.
• The Palletline plc board consists of chairman Bob Russett and seven shareholder-elected directors plus managing director Steve Hayward and the executive finance director, Lyndon Watkins.
• The 45 member companies run around 4513 local distribution vehicles and more than 100 liveried double-deck trailers on Palletline work.
• Member companies earn revenue through the collection of local pallet-based consignments (known as inputs), and trunking them into and out of the main and/or regional hubs.
• They are also paid to deliver pallets provided by other network members to customers in their own area ( outputs). All billing is currently direct between companies.
• Palletline plc has three main revenue streams based on fees charged for processing freight through the main hub: direct "corporate" business— (full-load accounts negotiated centrally); property rental; and other "peripherals".
• In addition to running the main hub at Birmingham (two regional hubs are operated by member companies) Palletline plc provides all central marketing including designing vehicle liveries etc; business administration; as well as planning and performance and quality monitoring.
• The combined annual Palletline member network revenue is about £85m. By December 2002 it is expected to exceed 2100m.
• Palletline plc's current audited accounts for the year to June 2001 list sales of £4.2m and a pre-tax profit of £493,000.
• Palletline has two European alliances in place—in Germany, with ILN; and in France, with interpool ncluding major hubs in Cologne and Paris.
