• Owners of pre-1975 light C Vs will not be forced to adapt their vehicles to meet new emission standards in force from November.
Peter Glover, chairman of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs which represents 350 clubs, says the announcement is "very good news for older vehicle owners".
He calls the DTp's revised 1975 cut-off date "very lenient indeed". An earlier draft document had mooted 1960 as a likely cut-off date.
