Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A rear steering device for semi-trailers is being offered by an Irish manufacturer looking to win new business in the United Kingdom.

Dennison has been selling its product in Eire for four years. It is aimed at bulk and tanker hauliers who want the extra capacity of a semi-trailer, but need the manoevrability of a rigid. The system incorporates two rods attached to the fifth wheel and a turntable fixed to the semi-trailer's rear axle.

The company says it can be coupled to any tractive unit without modification.

The device was unveiled at last year's Tipcon, but Dennison is only now beginning to take it on the road to potential customers. So far it has been fitted to new trailers, but it says it can also be retrofitted.

The system adds up to 250kg to the weight of the trailer, says Dennison.
