Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I AM an employee of a transport firm running a fleet of approximately 30 ERF vehicles. In this time of depression, it is a prospering business which buys a couple of new tractive units each year.

We have been experiencing difficulty in rectifying faults on the recent B-Series vehicle, the fault concerning the rear axle and wheels. ERF has been investigating the fault for some months but has failed to uncover the cause.

It is now the time of year to buy two more tractive units to avoid making the taxman even richer, and some answers were needed from ERF. When they were put under pressure the reply was to the effect: "go and buy another make of vehicle if you aren't satisfied with ours."

I ask you, is that the attitude to be taken when their factory is on a three-day week and they are the last surviving British truck manufacturer?

It would be a shame to see ERF go down with the rest of the British cv firms because of a lack of patience to solve the problems and keep the customers content.

As a result of not being able to get any satisfaction from ERF, the firm I work for now has two Volvo tractive units on order. A.J. D. STUBBS Macclesfield, Cheshire
