BECAUSE there is never likely tc be a universally understooc standard language, says the British Standards Institution, signs and symbols are increasingly being used to preseni information. With the steady decline in the number of Britons who are able to speak or write English, the BSI's new standarc on public information symbols should fill the well-known long felt want.
Even so, it is remarkable hovt widely understood throughoui the world is a popular idiomatic English injunction to go away.
