Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DHL-EXEL Supply Chain employees at its Iceland distribution centre in Enfield will strike for two more days this week in pursuit of their 4% pay claim.

The drivers and distribution workers were on the picket lines again last Friday (15 December) following the first day of action on 8 December.

As CM went to press, the Transport and General Workers Union (T&G) confirmed that two further strikes were planned for 21 and 22 December. These have been called in response to an imposed 2.4% pay rise following last year's pay freeze. The T&G says DHL-Exel has failed to pass on any of the productivity and efficiency gains made by the 115 drivers and 250 warehouse staff.

T&G senior regional industrial organiser Peter Kavanagh says: "Exploratory discussions were held with the company last Friday [15 December] and we're waiting to hear back from them. Our position remains that if we have some prospects for meaningful discussions then we are more than happy to enter into those."

• Iceland has refuted a T&G claim that turkeys and other foodstuffs have been defrosting in several stores in I he South-East because extra supplies had been ordered which would not fit in the refrigerated storage areas.

Iceland says :"The Enfield distribution centre is managed by a third party, DHI.-Exel. We're working closely with our partner to minimise impact and maximise store availability during this busy period.

"Store staff were asked, and agreed, to open stores early in order to receive their deliveries and maintain all products at the correct temperature. We're confident that all appropriate storage procedures are being followed in order to maintain the quality of service."
