Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

in to Scottish sector PERSUADING SCOTTISH Scania and Volvo fans to switch to a used MAN or ERF sounds like an uphill task, but it's one that Jim Bentley, general manager of MAN Diesel's new Scottish operation, is more than willing to attempt. He aims to retail at least 250 this year, and possibly significantly more.

-The Scottish market has always been hard to break into, but for us the only way is up," he says. "We're only scraping the surface, and the used sector seems to be going from strength to strength daily at present."

Bentley has a hub at Broxburn with other sites at Aberdeen, Bellshill, Cambuslang, and Carlisle. The stock tends to be young usually less than four years old-low mileage, and prepared to a high standard."They're all inspected by the Freight Transport Association before they're offered for sale," he reports "All significant defects are rectified.

MAN Diesel approved used vehicles are also serviced, valeted inside and out, and covered by a three-month warranty.

"A lot of manufacturers might freak out if they knew how much we spend on our trucks, but I like to be able to sleep at night," says Bentley "The days are long gone when used trucks were wheeled through the dealer's gate and dumped in the corner in the hope that somebody might buy them."

"The Scottish used truck market is stronger than it's been for years," according to Duncan Ward,UK business development manager, commercial vehicles, at British CarAuctions.

"At Glasgow we recently sold a 2001vintage Atego 7.5-tonner with a box body for £9,100, and a Renault Premium 420 6x2 dating back to 2003 with a Privilege cab went for £27,900," he reports. "That's good money in both cases."
