ALMOST 60 truck drivers have been cautioned by Derbyshire police in a campaign highlighting the dangers caused by vehicles parking without lights.

Officers handed out 58 advisory notes and six £30 penalty notices during the month-long blitz; they say they will continue to take action against any driver who parks on the county's roads without showing the appropriate lights.

PC Linda Collison, who led the initiative, says:"We were concerned that lorry drivers parked their vehicles in lay-bys on major trunk roads and other A-roads without displaying lights. This is illegal and dangerous. They thought that because the road was lit they didn't need their lorry lights."
