The improvements committee of Chester Corporation has considered the question of the traffic over the Old Dee Bridge and of improving the ,structure. It is recommended that the council should not, at the present time, spend money on the bridge, but that the watch committee should consider the possibility of making regulations to control vehicular traffic over it.

Manchester's Busy Police Fleet.

In his annual report, the Chief Constable of Manchester mentions that the vehicular equipment of the ambulance and transport department consists of two prison vans, two patrol vans, nine motor ambulances, ten motorcycle combinations and 12 cars.

Some idea of the work performed by this department may be visualized from the feet that 4,555 calls for ambulances were responded to last year and 17,643 turn-outs by the transport section were recorded. The patrol wagons for prisoners made 5,701 calls and covered 28,224 miles and the prison vans 753 calls and 7,600 miles.

Death of Salford's General Manager.

We regret to learn of the death of Mr. a. S. D. Moffet, general manager of the passengertransport undertaking of Salford Corporation. Mr. Moffet was in his 59th year, and had held appointments at Rochdale and Belfast, besides being engineer-manager of the West Ham transport department.
