in five years as operators rent to help manage cashflow. Steven Cartwright, director of the Altrincham firm, said: “In 2007 rental turnover was £6m, this year it’s going to get to £20m. We have a spot hire fleet of 4,000 trailers, with 84% utilisation.” The average length on spot hire is sevenand-half months. Cartwright, which has sites at Avonmouth, Leicestershire’s Bruntingthorpe, Manchester and Northampton, plans to open two more.
