EDDIE STOBART drivers facing redundancy held a protest at Doncaster racecourse last week, where the company’s management were watching the Stobart Doncaster Cup.
Unite shop stewards representing the 183 affected Doncaster DC drivers handed a letter to police at the course to give to Stobart chief executive Andrew Tinkler, asking him to meet them to discuss the proposals.
Union officials were due to hold talks today with the company to head off strike action. Last week 90% of drivers at the former Tesco DC voted to strike over the operator’s decision to remove the site’s transport function (CM 13 September).
