Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN immediate pay rise of 25s. a week is being demanded by busmen employed by the London Transport Executive. They claim that rises in the cost of living since their last award in January, coupled with the recent us. granted to provincial busmen, justify a new increase.

The proposal was put before the executive of the Transport and General Workers' Union this week, who were asked to endorse it for submission to the L.T.E.

The implications of this claim are extremely serious, for the chief reason for one provincial company's bus workers' demand was the wide difference between their wages and those of London bus operatives.

HAULIERS TO SEE VEHICLE DEMONSTRATION?

FFORTS are being made by the Southend Sub-area of the Road HaulageAssociation, in conjunction with local agents, to arrange a show and a practical demonstration of various makes of conimercial vehicle. Under provisional arrangements the event would take place at the Kursaal, Southend-on-Sea, from November 21-23.

The Vehicles would be fully laden and operators should be able to see them at work. It has been suggested that the display should include a tractor for an articulated outfit, a 5-tonner and a tipper. It is understood that the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., have declined to take part. Entry to the demonstration would be by invitation.

Whether or not the event can take place depends on the approval of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
