Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANTI-VIBRATION mountings for a variety of other purposes than those for which the company's well-known rubber-bush type device is designed are produced by Silentbloc, Ltd., Victoria Gardens, Ladbroke Road, Notting Hill Gate, London, W.11. A range of mountings for special applications is shown in a booklet recently issued by this concern.

They all comprise metal parts separated by rubber bonded to one or more surfaces, the hardness • of the rubber being selected to suit the conditions under which the mounting operates. Clearly, in practically all cases, the excellence of the bond is of paramount importance and it is noteworthy that a tensile strength exceeding 1,000 lb. per sq. in. can be guaranteed.

For conditions under which the rubber is exposed to the action of oil or other substances, harmful to ordinary rubber, there are available mountings incorporating synthetic rubber, or rubber with suitable protection. In

the development of these mountings extensive experimenting and research have been conducted by the Silentbloc concern and by its associated company, the T. B. Andre Rubber Co., Ltd., Kingston By-pass, Surbiton, and these, together with careful process control, ensure uniformity of result from all types.

Copies of the booklet may be obtained free by readers of this paper who make application to Silentbloc, Ltd.
