Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Do you provide a standard driver handover package?

Yes. It’s free and lasts about 1.5 hours. Full handover/driver training is available to major fleets, usually to driver-trainers who train company drivers. If further assistance is required, then revisits are available. Individual vehicle handovers are handled by suppliers. If SAFED-type training is required the charge is £250 a day.

Where does it normally take place?

Mainly at the operator’s premises.

Do you offer specific driver handover/familiarisation courses certified as a JAUPT-recognised/accredited course for Driver CPC training?

Yes. The Driving Excellence Workshop (DEW), produced with the Freight Transport Association. The course is based around a mixture of on-road and classroom modules with key elements including: • Driver preparation for the day ahead; • An understanding of what makes a vehicle operate at its optimum capabilities; • Eco-driving for best fuel efficiency.

The DEW is JAUPT-approved and provides a seven-hour Driver CPC upload. A voluntary assessment can be completed after the module, providing certification to the driver and the company. Cost is £299 exc. VAT Can operators buy a CPC-registered familiarisation package on existing (i.e. not brand new) trucks?

Yes. Operators with an existing vehicle can attend the DEW workshop.
