Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I WRITE TO you in regards to the article ‘VOSA pokes at Facebook for drivers who breach rules’ (CM 22 September).

VOSAwatch was set up not as a ‘tip-off’ site, but more as an information site for drivers who don’t want to be delayed.

VOSA has a role to play in road safety and to ensure that HGVs operating inside the UK are legal and safe to do so.

We at VOSAwatch also understand that this role is of vital importance to road safety, but for it to work, this role needs to be enforced in a fair fashion.

VOSAwatch does not encourage illegal activity, but we are aware that some drivers do push the conines of the law to the limits, but does this mean that we are subject to a Kangaroo court inside a police car?

I refused to answer some of VOSA’s questions at one time and offered to record the conversation in my cab. The VOSA oficer refused to let me do this. I also had a police oficer remove my phone from the cab. When did we become a police state where freedom of speech was declined? If this VOSA oficer had nothing to hide, then why should a recording of the interview be declined?

At VOSAwatch we ask VOSA to sit down with us, talk with us, support us, not work against us and punish us, and we welcome any opportunity to do this.We have also been informed by VOSA that it will try and close our site down as it’s an obstruction to its work. Why is VOSA so threatened by our Facebook page? We also ask for any lawyers reading this to contact us to support the transport companies and help our drivers.

Please remember that without trucks you get nothing.

Editor’s note: VOSA says it is monitoring social media sites, including Facebook, to identify and stop tired drivers before they cause any accidents.
