Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FREIGHT FORWARDER, who was sent to jail for ripping off his customers through a string of failed firms, has once again come -under the spotlight for his business practices.

Jeff Lewis who, along with his son Michael, ran Federation Freight, Great Freight and EU Freight, has re-appeared on the scene operating as Tree Freight (CM 27 May 2005).

When CM last saw Lewis in 2001 he was in the dock at Blackfriars Crown Court looking at a 42-month jail sentence. He was also banned from being a company director for 12 years.

Now he's back in the freight forwarding game and is making himself as popular as ever, with one angry creditor planning to take him to court in a bid to recover the money which he says that he is owed.

Paul Deeprose, who runs Nuneaton-based Future Logistics, claims Lewis owes him about £4,000 in unpaid invoices.

These date back to July this year and are for loads that Deeprose managed forTree Freight from the Continent back to the UK.

Deeprose says: "The money it was offering was quite high and took it at its word."

When we contacted Lewis, he accused CM of pursuing a campaign against him. He insists that the money will be paid "when it's due" and says that the "terms of our agreement have not been met by Peeproser Tree Freight's terms and conditions say invoices are paid within 30 days of receipt of the CMRs and the invoice.

Deeprose maintains these were sent in July.

Lewis says he will defend the writ in the County Court dominic.perryerbi.co.uk
