.A PERMANENT secretariat of the I-1 International Federation of Forwarding Agents' Associations is to be set up in Geneva, it was decided at the FIATA world congress which closed in Vienna .last Saturday.
The willingness to work in greater co-ordination with other organizations shown at the congress was typified by a resolution to come closer to the International Road Transport Union. it has already been decided that the two bodies should meet for talks in Dusseldorf on October 31. • Also recommended at the FIATA congress were ihe intensification of relations between transport users, transport agents and transport operators, the introduction, where not already in use, of international insurance policies and the introduction of licensing of forwarding agents or the tightening of such licensing regulations where already in existence.
Canada, it was announced, is expected to join the federation in the near future.
The next HATA congress is to he held in Yugoslavia or Switzerland in 1963. with an intermediary board meeting in Italy next year..
