Heathrow Couriers managing director Mick Heybourn is emphatic when asked if the credit crunch has affected his business. "No, there's been no drop in work because of the recession. We're doing a lot of business in the run up to Christmas."

That work is mainly small consignments, including perishables and pharmaceuticals with short lead-in times. "We work for whoever phones us up," says Heybourn, who has a vkie customer base ranging from airlines to small freight forwarders.
