rE Nor-Vac floor crane available from Allan Levin, Ltd., 1 Mackenzie Street, Slough, Bucks, is manufactured in Sweden. It consists of a triangular base frame mounted on three wheels carrying a pillar, on which is pivoted the tubular lifting jib, and a vertical, hand-operated hydraulic ram, which provides the lifting force.

Gas Regulators A NEW range of single-stage oxygen and acetylene regulators is offered by British Oxygen Gases, Ltd., Spencer House, St. James's, London, S.W.1. The regulators are known as the S.O.R. 1 and S.A.R. 1 and are designed for arduous service where very fine pressure adjustment is not essential.

They weigh only 3 lb. each although being of robust construction. Another addition to the range of equipment manufactured by British Oxygen Gases is a lightweight welding blowpipe intended to reduce operator fatigue. The Lightweight Sapphire, as it is named, weighs only 9.1 oz.

Three-position Saw ACOMFORTABLE pistol grip die-cast in light alloy is the basis of the Three-Way pad saw manufactured by Rolls Tools, Ltd., 154 Blackfriars Road, London, S.E.1. The grip is split down its centre line and is held together by two screws to form a clamp for either of the two blades supplied with it. The blades Can be clamped in any of three positions. Complete with wood-cutting and hacksaw blades the Three-Way saw costs 7s. 6d.

Van Conversion FOR £15 15s. Restail Bros., Ltd., 31-33 U Floodgate Street, Birmingham, 5, offer a rear seat conversion for Standard 6-cwt. vans. To fit the seat the front section of the van floor is removed exposing the foot wells provided in the van floor

pressing which is similar to that used for the. ear.. The Restall bench-type cushion is put into .place complete with its hinged backrest. When passengers are not being carried the backrest is folded down to take the place of the normal van floor panel..

Each set is complete for installation containing the four lamps, a heavy duty flasher unit and a steering-column switch incorporating a warning bulb. When crescent-shaped forward lamps are included the kit cost £7 12s. ld., whilst the option of four circular lamps reduces the cost to £5 14s. 5d. Manual Elevator I N T EN D D for rapid raising and

lowering of loadS up to 350 lb., the Quik Lift hand-operated elevator truck manufactured by Powell and Co., Burry Port. Carms., has a new winch which is claimed to give a fast lifting rate without excessive effort. The winch, which acts on a platform 1 ft. 9 in. by 1 ft. 10 in. through wire ropes, is self-sustaining at any height without the use of a brake or ratchet.

Durable Torch 'TESTS which were carried out during .I. the development of the B.M. torch produced by Bardic; Ltd., William Street, Northam, Southampton, included deep freezing, pressure cooking, saltwater immersion and operation of the on-off switch 500,000 times under water. It is claimed that none of these trials induced failure. Two types of torch are offered; the Mark I for general -use and a safety version, the Mark II.

The Mark I is fully sealed and its switch is incorporated in the rubbercovered lamp unit Resistance to damage by impact is another feature of the torch, which costs £1 15s.

Concentrated Heating ELECTRIC heaters which will project heat over a narrow beam to provide warmth for isolated areas of larger buildings "suers as loading bays and work benches are produced by the General Electric Co., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, W.C.2. The heaters consist of straight, sheathed elements and aluminium reflectors mounted in a sheet steel outer cover. Variation of heating intensity is 'effected by raising or lowering the reflector within the body of the heater. They are known as Twin Zone heaters, are intended for overhead mounting and are available in 11 kW. and 3 kW. models costing.£7 10s. and £9 2s. 6d. respectively.

As the heaters are not designed for domestic use they are not subject to purchase tax.

Cars Tested 'r'STS of 34 cars are contained in the I 1959 edition of collected road tests carried out by The Motor and published by Temple Press Ltd., Bowling Green Lane, London, E.C.1. The period covered by the tests is the past year and the cars covered include such recent introductions as the Triumph Herald and the Austin Seven. A section at the end of the publication gives summarized performance figures of the cars tested. It. costs 10s. 6d. or I is. 4d. by post.

Tidier Switches FOUR switches can be accommodated on a switch panel produced by Joseph Lucas, Ltd., Great King Street, Birmingham, 19. It consists of a chromiumplated angle member drilled for fitting beneath the dashboard. The panel is supplied without switches for 5s. but these may be purchased separately and cost between 4s. 6d. and 10s. Rubber grommets are provided to blank-off any unused switch positions.
