MR. A. WEDGWOOD BENN and MR. R. J. MELLISH are to be the Labour Party's spokesmen on transport matters in the new Parliament. This duty was previously undertaken by MR. G. R. STRAUSS and MR. ERNEST DAVIES. Mr. Strauss is to be the spokesman on civil aviation. Mr. Davies is no longer an M.P.
MR. C. R. COATES has been appointed a director of Willowbrook, Ltd. He continues as works manager of Willowbrook and Duple Motor Bodies (Midland), Ltd. MR. R. J. RICHARDS Will become secretary of Willowbrook, Ltd., upon the retirement of Mr. F. E. WHATTON on January L MR. W. L. LOCKYER Will become the company's chief accountant at the same time.
MR. J. JANES, head London sales representative of Transport Equipment (Thornycroft), Ltd., has retired after nearly 22 years with the organization. For more than 10 years he was one of the national vice-chairmen of the Traders' Road Transport Association. From 1955 until this year he was the Association's national treasurer, as well as a representative on the council of the National Road Transport Federation.

MR. F. J. ANGnovE has been appointed a representative of the Western Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association. He will develop membership.
MR. R. A. Muisiao has been appointed marketing services manager of the Regent Oil Co., Ltd. MR. D. L. JoHN has become automotive sales manager, MR. JAMES MACKIE, rolling stock superintendent of Aberdeen Transport Department, has joined the sales staff of the Aberdeen depot of Small and Parkes, Ltd.
MR. ROGER , THORNYCROFT, sales director and general manager of Transport Equipment (Thornycroft), Ltd., is leaving for Libya on Monday. After Christmas he will make another overseas tour, this time to Africa, and will be away for about two months.
LIVERPOOL BUS CUTS
PLANS to reduce the annual mileage of Liverpool Transport Department buses by 5 per cent. received the support of the North Western Traffic Commissioners last week. The effect will be to reduce frequencies on certain routes by periods of up to 15 minutes.
It was stated that the proposals would cut the present annual mileage of 42m, by about 21m. If they could be effected this year, the undertaking might break even financially.
