TFord Motor Co., Ltd., agreed on Tuesday to reduce the working week of some 41,000 employees from 42+ hours to 41+ hours withoitt loss of pay. It -Was agreed also that the basic wages a skilled and semi-skilled workers should be raised by 54(1. an hour, and of unskilled workers and women by 4+d.
These. concessions-will come into force on Monday—the day before the engineering employers' federation reply -to the demands of the engineering unions for -higher wagesand shorter hours throughout the engineering industry.
Ford's skilled workers will now receive 7s. 2d. an hour and semi-skilled, 6s. 6d, Unskilled labour will be paid 5s. 8d. an honr and women, 5s. Id. an hour. Ford refused to grant a third week's holiday with pay.
