Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW paint-spray plant capable of handling the entire range of vehicles from the Nippy Star 4-tonner ta the Mighty Antar tractor has been installed in the Basingstoke works of Transport Equipment (Thornycroft), Ltd.

The equipment, which was ,designed and installed by Modernair (Processes), Ltd., 85 Lillie Road, London, S.W.6, ia co-operation with Thornycroft, comprises a spray booth 45 ft. long, 15 ft. 'wide and 13 ft. 6 in. high, together with an air supply and separate spaceheating plant. It is housed in a new building which has a floor area of nearly 19,000 sq. ft.

Incorporated in the booth are six 12-ft.-long wet paint scrubber units, each of which has a water curtain cascading over removable vitreous-enamel face panels. The water is treated with Detac, a chemical produced by Pyrenc Co., Ltd., to " de-nature " trapped B14 • paint. This also simplifies maintenance of the booth, water being continuously circulated and passed through filters in settling tanks.

Some 295 changes of air per hour take place in the booth. To balance the air exhausted to atmosphere, a thermostatically controlled auxiliary "make-up" plant introduces 22,500 c.f.m. of filtered and tempered air into the shop. This equipment, together with the space-heating plant, is designed to maintain a shop temperature of 60° F.

A 25-ft.-long pit for treating the undersides of chassis is fitted in the booth. Short-wheelbase chassis are accommodated by temporarily bridging the pit with sections of steel flooring. The pit has fluorescent lighting and is flameproof.

Water, heated by an oil-fired boiler, is supplied to the heater batteries at a maximum temperature of 240° F.
