REGULATIONS for the licensing and setting up of tachograpl calibration centres have been put before Parliament 13: Transport Minister William Rodgers.
But this week the Department of Transport denied that tit move was a step towards the introduction of tachos in vehicle on UK runs, but said it was designed to help operators witl vehicles used overseas.
"The appointment of calibration centres will remove an difficulties likely to be met by British vehicles operating in EE countries where tacho charts have replaced written records fo the drivers of vehicles registered after January I, 1975 (1976 fo new member states)."
But the DTp also pointed out that arrangements fo appointing stations are subject to discussions with the industr; by the DTp, and also to the regulations being passed 13 Parliament.
