AFTER a year of economies which reduced its bus fleet from 4304 to 4134 the Scottish Transport Group made an operating surplus of £0.3 million in 1976, against a £1.7, million loss in 1975.
The number of passengers carried also dropped by about six per cent. Revenue rose to £11.6 million as a result of a fares increase in March 1976, but revenue from advertising linked with taped music on buses did not develop in the Way thatit nit(' been hoped it would.
