Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TEEDEX LTD., claimed to be the largest producers of webbing constructed safety equipment, have entered the handlingappliances field with the introduction of a new range of Irvin slings. These are fabricated from a synthetic webbing material which is specially treated to provide a long life and a high resistance to abrasion. The treatment also stiffens the loops of the slings, which are therefore suitable for use with crane hooks.

Advantages claimed for webbing over conventional materials include the facility with which it can be passed through a relatively shallow space, its value when handling delicate loads with regard to the prevention of damage, a high wet strength, flexibility when wet, and resistance to attack by oils and chemicals. When the sling forms a link between crane and load, the fact that it is a soft link largely eliminates any tendency to spin.

Two stock versions of the sling are rated to lift loads of 0.5 ton and 1.5 tons, both slings have a safety factor of 6 to 1. Made by: Leedex Ltd., Brunning House, 100 Whitechapel Rd., London El,
