Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ABID to extend the Ramsgate-Newark express service of Thomas Motor Tours, North Muskham, to Lincoln was refused by the East Midlands Traffic Commissioners last week. The bid led to the Commissioners asking for improvements to be carried out at Victoria Coach Station.

This request was made after witnesses spoke of "nightmare" conditions at the station over the past five years. These included difficulties in finding the buses on which they wanted to travel; absence of refreshment facilities early in the morning after long overnight journeys; and inadequacies in the left luggage department and toilets.

The witnesses were holidaymakers who had travelled with the Lincolnshire Road Car Co. Ltd. to the station overnight to catch a connection provided by the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. to the Thanet coast. They were speaking on behalf of Thomas Motor Tours, whose application had been opposed by Lincolnshire Road Car.

At the end of the case the chairman of the Commissioners, Mr. C. M. Sheridan, asked the objectors to seek improvements in the facilities at Victoria. He added, however, that the Lincolnshire service was adequate. It was open to passengers to avoid Victoria Coach Station by going by train or bus to Newark and joining Thomas' existing service there.

Meanwhile, extensions to Victoria Coach Station, which will improve the flow of vehicles and passengers, are nearly completed.
