Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DESPUTE last summer's bad weather, nearly 2m. more passengers were carried by the South Wales Transport Co., Ltd., during 1954 than in 1953. The total for the year was 97m. This statement was made by the chairman, Mr. W. T. James, at the company's annual meeting last week.

Mr. James said that throughout their area they had retained a lid. minimum fare, compared with the 2d minimum being charged by an increasing number of operators.

Bookings for extended tours for this year showed a substantial increase over the number in 1954.

PARKING guLus ANGER SHOPKEEPERS • SERIOUS interference with shop trade in Many towns caused by parking regulations was deplored in a resolution discussed at the annual: 'general Meeting of the National Union of Small'Shoptecpers Edinburgh this week.

The Ministry of Transport should concentrate on road improvements and the provision of suitable car parks, to be paid for out of revenue from existing vehicle taxation, the resolution proposed.

The heavy rate of fuel tax was criticized in another resolution.

NEW MOBILE SHOP FOR QUICK LOADING

A NEW type of mobile self-service I-1 shop, the design of which incorporates lessons learned from the operation of earlier units, has been put into service by Galbraith's Stores, Ltd., Paisley. The near-side panel is arranged to open upward and downward in two sections to permit trays of goods to be quickly loaded from a six-deck trolley. Only a few minutes are now required

for this work, instead of an hour.

The driver-manager lists his requirements and these are prepared on the trolleys, to be wheeled to the vehicle the following morning. During the morning round, extra supplies may be demanded by telephone, to be loaded at lunCh time.

SPECIAL TRUCK FOR ROLLS

ATRUCK to carry large rolls of paper board, each weighing about 3 tons, has been specially built for the Thames Board Mills by Lansing Bagnall, Ltd., Kingselere Road, BaSingstoke. Hants. It is a rider-controlled unit with two long forks at the rear. The inside faces of these forks are concave and mate with the surface of the rolls of board.

A power-operated hydraulic mechanism raises the forks, lifting the roll of paper board clear of the ground for transport.
