Arthur Sanderson (Gt. Broughton) Ltd. applied to substitute five articulated trailers with five of heavier weight, to substitute one artic with one of heavier weight and to add two artics not exceeding 35 ft. overall. All these applications have been refused.

Further, Mr. Hanlon has suspended four artics of Econofreight and one artic of Tarren for a period of four months for omissions in the declarations made when applying for the licence, and for "deliberate disregard of the declarations ". Two artics of Arthur Sanderson have also been suspended for three months; the L.A. referring to a clear and deliberate misuse of vehicles under the licence. All the suspensions take effect within 14 days unless appeals are lodged.

Eight for Goldsmid

AN application for eight additional vehicles on A licence by E. Goldsmid (1938) Ltd.. of London, E.G.3, was granted by Mr. D. I. R. Muir, the Metro

politan Licensing Authority in London on Tuesday.

The company originally asked for 14 vehicles but settled for eight after reaching agreement with objectors British Road Services and British Railways.

Spelmonden Appeal Deferred : The Transport Tribunal in London on Wednesday reserved its decision on the appeal by Spelmenden Estate Co. Ltd., Goudhurst, Kent, against the South Eastern L.A. 'a refusal to grant an application for four vehicles on A licence. Respondents were British Road Services and British Railways. Yelloway's Devon Bid : The North Western Traffic Commissioners on Tuesday, after a two-day hearing, reserved their decision on an application by Yelloway Motor Services Ltd. for a new summer daily service from Rochdale. For the applicant, Mr. F. D. Walker said that the service (to cater for passengers in the North West wishing to travel to Torquay and Paignton) would have the same route between Newcastle under Lrrie . and Torquay as existing services. British Railways and three road operators objected to the application.
