Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Chris Tindall The Health & Safety Executive is investigating drivers' complaints that there are not enough toilets at Southampton's container terminal.

This follows a surge in freight traffic which took the port by surprise and led to lengthy delays.

Brian Wilson, who uses the port regularly, says the facilities have been inadequate since a computerised system was introduced in February "There's a shortage of toilet facilities and somewhere to drink. It's a bit disgusting to be honest— they have done the drivers an injustice and it needs looking into."

Wilson says there is a toilet in the booking-in area, but the canteen that was there has been removed. He adds that once a driver is allocated a number and moves onto a pad to awaits his call there are no available toilets. "You could be sat there for a couple of hours lilt's busy," he points out.

The port's business development director, Derek Smith, says: "The HSE has been anti responded, which is good. It would appear he was reasonably satisfied and will write to those who complained."

Smith says the situation should be put into perspective: "Two or three people out of arounc 1,000 who use port each day complained. That's 0.3%."
